I wish I could know how many miles I rode on a bike as kid. Used to take journeys in Lafayette.

We did that too.

Would also wrap up head to toe in aluminum foil head out to the country where sharecroppers lived..

Put a green plastic pumpkin on our heads.Hide in bushes and run out in front of their cars into the woods.

Next day newspaper said "Locals Report Martians at Bogue Chitto Cotton Gin"...

I agree but do you see how fast people drive through neighborhoods now? I don't live in one but my inlaws do and everybody hauls arse down them. Growing up that was very seldom an issue. People that drive fast through neighborhoods are right up there with serial killers and child molesters.

Eta: We used to get drunk and drag race through our neighborhood.

shite, things I didn't do as a kid

It was me and my 2 best friends that lived a couple doors down

We had a lot of land so we were alway building "clubs" in the woods with lumber we would steal from my uncles shed. He just up and left one day, leaving all this shite behind so we figured we would put it to use. We learned at a young age that Winn Dixie bags do not work as a parachute

We would play baseball from sun up to sun down in one of our fields that we made into a baseball field. And when we ran out of runners on base, we would call for "ghost man"

In the fall, we would play full on tackle football until one of us started bleeding or lost teeth. The end zone was the fence and the telephone pole

We rode our bikes everywhere and anywhere. We built every type of ramp imaginable and attempted to jump it

We would go to the kart and Karry in front of the projects to buy beer/MD 20-20 and boones farm. We would tell the Shiplet working it was for our dad. He would always say "bring note next time"

We would then go behind the levee and drink it then roll each other down it to make us "dizzier"

Hide in ditches throwing rocks at cars
Go down to the tracks and put rocks on them to see the train crush them.

The dumbest and luckiest thing I ever did was climb on barges then jump into the river. The though of that today gives me anxiety

We didn't have video games until latter and even then, that's shite we did on a rainy day.
And of course, who could forget the Christmas Eve bonfires. Damn I hate living here

I grew up with 6 guys all within 2 years of my age from about 6 yrs old, We did the following...

Played outside all day long during the summer.

If it was football season we played football and the games were brutal...kids on other side of the neighborhood didn't want to play.

Played baseball and basketball when those sports were in season.

Rode our bikes everywhere.

Caught snakes and turtles.

Did a certain type of knocking and running.

Egged houses...primarily the a-hole who wouldn't give us the balls that ended up in his yard.

Leaned half full trash an of water against his door and did the knocking mentioned earlier.

Threw tennis balls at cars.

Put roofing nails on the street trying to get the school bus to get flat tires (tires were too thick)

And I won't go into our teenage years.

Coonass you upbringing sounded like mine. I will add a few we put pennies on the train tracks really cool when they got flattened also we had big arse rope swings under the railroad track bridge. High as a motherfricker too straight into the atchafaylaya river with some of the worse currents in the world. We didn't care
