I travel pretty close to there for work. Our plant is about 40 miles directly south of Minneapolis, though. Just hope that you don't have to go between November and March. Make sure you make fun of their stupid accent.

I'm worried about this. I've lived in south Louisiana my whole life. Never even been across the mason Dixon line. I don't want to drive in the snow.

It's a decent little town. A lot of old buildings that are actually maintained unlike what you see here. There's not really a lot of must do or must see "things" there. There's a small college there so the bar scene is decent if you are into that. You can cross the Mississippi and go to Wisconsin there is a strip club nearby. A lot of local places to eat. I went in March so outdoor activities wasn't much of an option. I had a long layover in Minneapolis so I went to the Mall of America and took the rail transit around downtown. I recommend that if you have the chance.

There is a lot of canoeing, biking and hiking available. It has bluffs on both sides of the Mississippi. There are two universities in town, so there are often arts and athletic events going on. Not much in the way of fine dining, save for one restaurant (funded by the founder of Fastenal). La Crosse WI is 25 miles south and has a lot of food options (including a Cajun). And, assuming you are there for Fastenal, there will likely be a lot of other people like yourself in town to socialize with at night.

What season are you there?
