How many generations does one have to go back to be considered "old money?" are we talking about English royalty old money or like southern plantation old money?

It's easy to make money. It's quite another to hold on to it.

New money buys status symbols. Holding on to money earns you status.

Money is the McMansion in Sarasota that starts falling apart after 10 years. Power is the old stone building that stands for centuries. I cannot respect someone who doesn't see the difference.

Old Money in America is plantation money for the South, Industrial Revolution money in the North, ranch money in the Southwest and Plains, then probably gold money out West.
