Is this comment racist when talking about a group of adults, both white and black?

Black people don't have a monopoly on being slaves.

Not racist.

Not at all. I worked the fields when I was in HS so it obviously doesn't only apply to brothas. To be honest I can't say the last time that I saw a black person working the fields on my end. It's all white Devils and Mexicans.

Isn't that a term used to describe hard working farmers?

Not racist.

If you live around a bunch of fields that your kids play in and they come home all dirty and you say "they look like they just came from the fields" that would be a simple observation. What I am trying to say here, is that it's all relative.

Why do people think that only slaves picked cotton? It's patently false.

Poor people picked cotton. And there were plenty of poor whites in the south. Hell, I can think of about 5 country songs that directly reference poor whites picking cotton. It's not a racial thing.

Of course it's racist if referring to blacks. Nothing is racist when referring to whites.

I honestly don't think a large portion of American black folks know much about the history of slavery on this planet. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if 30% or more of them thought that black slaves in America have been the only case of slavery to date.

fact! also, most of them that are so so very proud of their heritage and bitch about their history in America have no clue where they come from. They know nothing about the African contenant, its geography, or where slaves were even bought/sold. Ignorance is real
