To mark the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina's assault, second-line parades with Mardi Gras Indians, social aid and pleasure clubs, and brass bands will thread through Uptown and downtown New Orleans on Aug. 29, meet at Charity Hospital and continue to a block party in Central City.

The event, billed as the Katrina 10 Commemorative Parade, is designed to be "a cultural showcase that celebrates New Orleans, its resilience and the incredible spirit of its people," said Flozell Daniels Jr., president and CEO of the Foundation for Louisiana, a sponsor.

i suppose in that a second line is the celebration of life that follows a death, it kind of makes sense.

What's the issue with it? There was no guarantee NOLA was going to come back the way it did. Let me guess, you're insinuating that this parade is celebrating the loss of life and property as well as all the hardships felt in the region? Is that where you'd like the thread to go?

Great job everyone. Also to those who don't work, and are on welfare....nice work. Thanks for the culture.

Don't be stupid. Make it back, as in people wouldn't live here at all.
