Those are geckos. They're good for eating bugs. I like having them around.

I know they are beneficial but dang they are so creepy and weird looking. We had a big one in the house that I could not catch and I watched him eat several mosquitoes in a row. He stayed in the living room for a few months and luckily stayed behind the big screen TV mostly where I could not get him. My husband considered him to be a pet, lol.

My bro in law came in from Alaska a few years back and he had never seen them and he spent a few hours catching them to bring back to Alaska.

(It's ok to import exotic species to Alaska because they have no chance of survival and reproducing if they get loose in the wild - we even had piranha in the fish tank (and a tarantula, eww) when I lived there.)

When I was around 8 or 9 years old back in the mid 1970s, we used to sell them to pet shops in California for $25.00 per 100. We'd get a list of pet shops from a phone book at the library and send out letters to advertise. My brother and I, along with a couple brothers we hung out with, would comb the neighborhood and catch 100 in a couple days. My dad would build a little wooden box, and we'd ship them from Louisiana with a little wet moss in the box to keep them alive. $25.00 was pretty good money for a few 8 year olds back in the '70s.
