The Watson Walmart Stop Sign

Anyone else seen this popping up on Facebook? Apparantly they can't go more than 48 hours without someone hitting the stop sign in the parking lot. The FB page is getting comical. Complete with candle light vigil.

WAFB did a story on the sign, must've been a slow day.

I was wondering how long it would take this damned sign to get an OT thread. 
I don't get it. I've seen the areal shots and it appears to be a properly arranged intersection. My only guess is that it is new and maybe people are so used to cutting that corner short that after Walmart erected the sign people kept trying to instinctively make their usual short turn and hit it.
Whatever the reason, I think people are just being fricking stupid. But there's such a cacophony of stupidity over this thing, I wouldn't be surprised if Walmart has to redesign their parking lot to remove the sign.
A local videographer showed up and documented one of the events after several people on Facebook suggested he do so. Here's the video.

Drivers are taking a left where there is a straight arrow. They are also cutting the corner and that's where they are hitting the stop sign and oncoming traffic before that.
