The British have trouble getting it on their own, so they have to take what they want

It's funny because the countries they haven't invaded fall mostly into the below categories:

- Distant & completely landlocked
- France got there first
- Spain got there first

I do love how holier than thou Brits can be when discussing US foreign policy.

Especially because not only are they worst interventionalists the world has seen, but they very staunchly criticized us in WWI & II for our isolationism.

WW1 was the reason New York became the financial center of the world. Before that, London held that distinction. So there are also so feelings of disdain because essentially we took all their wealth through wartime loans and selling of goods needed to sustain the country and their war effort.

I do find it fascinating that a country as small as GB was that powerful.

With that being said, we kicked their asses all the way across the ocean to their tea and krumpets and then bailed their asses out in two wars.

The Revolutionary War owes significant credit to the French, as painful as that is to say.

And the US did very little in WWI militarily speaking. We obviously did a lot financing and selling of war goods but it's not like we did that out of the goodness of our hearts or anything...

That Anglo-Portuguese Alliance doing work.

The Anglo-Portuguese Alliance (or Aliança Luso-Britânica), ratified at the Treaty of Windsor in 1386, between England (succeeded by the United Kingdom) and Portugal is the oldest alliance in the world that is still in force – with the earliest treaty dating back to the Anglo-Portuguese Treaty of 1373.

Interesting fact of the day, Portugal actually moved their capital to Brazil for a stint of time and out of mainland Portugal.
