I'll be honest - I used to hold a fork/spoon like that until someone pointed it out to me freshman year of college. I had no idea I was doing it wrong, just always the way I did it. Weird I never noticed it on my own I admit. After that I fixed it and am "a normal" now

This is a serious question:

Is dinner-table etiquette still a big deal to people? My manners aren't terrible by any means, but they are far from refined. I always thought the only people who gave a shite about it were people 45+ years old.

Only things that really annoy me at a table are loud eating/smacking/slurping and eating with your mouth open

I don't think it's as big of a deal as it used to be. We had to have impeccable table manners growing up. If we stepped out of line, my dad made us eat on the floor in a corner in the kitchen. That shite probably would not fly now. I see people with their elbows all over the table all the time.
