I always thought JP Morgan was the richest and most powerful of all the rich people of that era. Either him or Rockefeller since Carnegie cashed out of the game earlier than those two and went on his philanthropic way.

The term "more wealth than I can imagine" comes to mind when I think of these people. While I sit in awe at what they built I do know that working conditions for the average person during that era were absolute crap. I'm gald that has changed today, though I do fear/agree that the pendulum has swung a little too far in the other direction in term of regulation.

Oh, and nice to see the Third Leg made his way over here. A fellow HROT refugee.

Dabbled a little bit over there. It's very insider-ish and posters are pretty rough on each other. Also go over to FSU Warchant OT board. It's good but not active enough.

You quickly understand how so many people can have such wrong opinions on subjects like the OP of this thread when you see a simple joke like this fly so far above their head that Red Bull stratosphere dude would've hit it when he stepped out that balloon.

Ahh so many of then came from nothing back when people were not so entitled by the government.

Jay Gould's wealth was from railroads, which were very heavily subsidized by the government. And Rockefeller, Carnegie, and probably several others gained their fortunes by crushing competitors with unscrupulous tactics that would be illegal today. Some of the men on that list wouldn't be able to build the vast wealth today that they were able to accumulate in a different era. That's not necessarily a bad thing.

Mikey joe is a stupid count that didn't understand the domistile pun. I would have torn that board a new a-hole but they want everything to be masturbatory. There is not a good Iowa site left.

I've been here a few weeks. As I did on HROT, I got prolific quick. Watch out, some scared boys up in hurr. Also, many vaginas, literally. Good board though.

How many HROT douchebags ended up on HALO? I only go there once a day to PM the ambulance-chasing mods to tell them how gay they are.

I believe they can get very full of themselves sometime.

OBTW, Doc Holliday, did indeed promote lead poisoning.

Why do so many self entitled pricks think that they know what is best for the entirety of humanity?

-A man's wealth being kept in check by a group of other men.

-A person's ability to succeed needs to be cut down by a group of other persons.

These are fundamentally opposite of the laws of nature.

More and more are popping up on Warchant.

I'm not interested in offending anyone in this place because it is a pretty cool board. But they need to understand that after the pron blowup on HROT and the subsequent lockdown and purging it was like Krypton blowing up and it's inhabitants are scattered throughout the galaxy. When you run into a familiar face on the interwebs you kind of want to catch up.

At Yale there is Vanderbilt Hall that is home to the Vanderbilt Suite, the best "dorm room" on campus. The Vanderbilt Suite is usually reserved for Vaderbilt heirs, however it is provided to the extreme wealthy when a Vanderbilt heir is not enrolled at Yale.

When Anderson Cooper enrolled at Yale, he shunned the Vanderbilt Suite so that he could experience Yale with the "normal" students in Trumball Hall. He didn't want a privileged experience at Yale simply due to his family ancestry.

Who took Anderson Cooper's spot in the Vanderbilt Suite?

Paul Giamatti

For someone who is financially apt that would not be a very smart move.

You can make more ROI on the cash as a liquid asset than tied up in real estate. Let your money work for you not against you.

Most these cats here are cool, free-wheeling folks. The innuendo is weird, like being dropped in a tribe out in the Amazon.

dirty mike is good shite, just giving you the business.

These people here think I'm an alternate handle. It's great.
