I remember when I was 14 and thought it was cool to tell everyone I was atheist.

Am I the only one that doesn't see the significance of an old man dressed up that was chosen to be the path to god by other people?

I'm sure we'll solve this here.

Thanks for posting.

I have always felt the same way but this pope is different. This man has a good heart and he is a good person. I believe that.

Just to be clear, I’m not a professional ‘quote maker’. I’m just an atheist teenager who greatly values his intelligence and scientific fact over any silly fiction book written 3,500 years ago. This being said, I am open to any and all criticism.

‘In this moment, I am euphoric. Not because of any phony god’s blessing. But because, I am enlightened by my intelligence.’

I've never said that he promotes great morals and as a role model is awesome. I just feel his status is very odd in a modern society.

I agree and they seem to follow a lot of rituals but the catholic church under this popes guidance is something to be respected. When you look at the things that have happened in the catholic church under other popes this guy is a breath of fresh air. I think his heart is pure and I think he has a tremendous amount of compassion unmatched by many people in the world today. He is a good man and that is to be respected whether you believe in his form of religion or not. I have always had great admiration for a leader that leads by example instead of by telling me what I should do while they do something different.

Instead of asking the OT, have you ever actually tried understanding why Catholics believe what they do about him? In other words, studying the origins of the position, what it means, why the position was created and why it continued afterward? You know... things a mature person would do in a situation where they actually want to know the answer.

I'm not a confirmed Catholic, fwiw.

Just assumed that on a Conversation Board....maybe a conversation could be had that helped explain. Who someone chooses to follow is their decision, but I just do not understand why such a huge portion of the world does.
