The oil bust gave the last push to move everything to Houston.
Please, everybody knows what really wrecked NOLA but we are too smart to say it because of todays "political climate"

Those are typically prices you'd see in places with big white collar job markets.

Because the modern apartment building stressing Higher end quality, amenities, and location Over square footage is something relatively new to New Orleans so I’m sure it seems absurd to many

New Orleans has had apt complexes with one of these things, or sometimes two but not really all three until the south market development

Growth is great, but the politics involved with Austin’s growth are not. It’s not THAT hard to see.

It would be great to see NO grow back into a major competitor in the South.

not high end. this is supposed to be "luxury".

places like this, with similar prices, are a dime a dozen in cities like austin or dallas. it shouldn't be surprising new orleans can handle one or two.

I know the OT is full of upper middle class and beyond, but seriously. The majority of your average Joe resident of NO isn’t going to comfortable afford that when the mayor isn’t opening things up more.

Tuscaloosa apartment prices can be ridiculous.
Maybe not that high, but easily over 1000/month for a nice new place.

I think, but don't know for sure, that Tuscaloosa prices run higher than even Birmingham apartment prices.

Probably has a lot to do with large University student enrollment and booming auto industry

The Saulet is $1200 or so for a 1BR at this point. I know that is still $800 less, but that place is crap.

There are probably a dozen new complexes around LSU that have been built in the last few years

Ain’t gonna end pretty

Definitely not. That comment is more directed at the crowd that thinks this symbolizes some sort of growth. One of these buildings isn’t symbolic of a bunch of people moving into the city.

I was googling its neighbor the Plaza Tower, which is one of the tallest abandoned buildings in the world, and second tallest abandoned building in the U.S. behind some incomplete Vegas hotel. The Odeon has a lot to live up to.

A lot of you yahoos don't understand how booming NOLA was before covid, and it'll come back even stronger afterwards. THis is an international destiny city, one of few in the USA. This area, south market, is the newest section of what's a very busy area from the warehouse district outward. This is a VERY desirable location. One of the most desirable in the USA urban wise.
