Lightning sparked the fire on October 25th and there’s still 0% containment. Fortunately, where it’s burning is extremely remote and as of now there is little threat to the surrounding towns. All we’ve experienced here in Bryson City is some ash and smoke.

The people of Nantahala are some of the best I've ever met. It's a small nation but proud and full of history. I hope we can help them.

Beautiful area. I've spent a lot of time around that part of the world. Pray for rains.

Good to hear. I try to go there every year. It’s gorgeous around NOC.

None of this ever, not ever, happened before "climate change."

It’s supposed to rain Friday-Sunday so that should help. It’s highly unusual for us to go this long without rain.

Was there 10/21 - 10/29 and it was absolutely beautiful. We rented a cabin on Brush Creek and was surprised there was nothing about a burn ban posted.

Well, shite. We're headed to Bryson City for the weekend. I hope there's not too much smoke, but I also hope they get it under control soon, for the sake of the people and the wildlife.

That’ll cost a pretty penny. Would love to own it but unfortunately I’m not an OT baller.

It’s not too bad today. The rain expected this weekend should keep most of the smoke and ash under control.

El Nino year is calling for more snow this winter than usual also. Curious to see what happens.

Not sure how close this is to the road, but I've driven through that gorge during a fire. It's terrifying.
