I've heard that sound too many times. I'm sorry for your loved ones' loss.

The last breath of an animal. You can hear the longing for life escape from their lungs. So sad.

Neighbors lost their 14 month old about 2 years ago... you are correct, never ever forget that sound or feeling. It was like I was disconnected from reality for hours. I can't imagine it being one of my own.

One of my good friends died when we were 21. I didn't see his mom until days later at his funeral and she showed incredible strength.
But it was his older brother who was with him that night and tried to take his keys away from him minutes before he wrecked... The image of him at his little brothers funeral I will never forget. That was over 4 years ago and the thought still crosses my mind almost daily and I still hurt for him just as much

I was living with my dad when I was 16 (just me and him) and he had a massive heart attack and passed. I was 16 having to make a similar call to my uncle (his brother) and I would not wish it on my worst enemy. My grandparents were elderly at the time, and I couldn't bring myself to call and tell them. I called my uncle and as hard as he took it, he took care of the rest of the calls.

I know someone who lost two children to suicide in the space of about a year. Bipolar is the devil.
As a Christian who loves life, and the people in mine, I will never understand suicide. Which makes it so much more sad to me. I wished everyone felt as beloved, and as blessed as I do. Not boasting, just lucky/blessed in so many ways.

I had an eight month old sister that was stillborn. My mother started having unusual pains and knew something was wrong. She met the pediatrician at the ER and told her she was dead and that nothing could be done. She was a zombie for about six months after that.
Oh, frick off.

Sorry for your loss, same thing happened to wife and I over 14 years ago. I'm not going to lie to you, its not going to get better. The pain always stays with you. Good luck in the future, this will either make you two stronger or break y'all apart.

You are correct.
My mother when we pulled the plug on my sister...
My sister in law when they lowered the casket of my nephew into the ground...
I have horrible-cold chills just typing this, because those sounds are etched into my mind.

The sound of my late wife's unconscious body taking its last gasps of air as she lost her battle with Leukemia...
I hope to never, ever have to watch someone pass again. It's not like the movies where they just stop breathing...

As an ICU nurse, i see that play out more than I care to remember. Even when the child is older, if the parent is there to witness it, the experience is terrible. It is a lot worse now that I have children. I would be lying if I told you I havent cried after/during dealings like this.
A parent should never have to bury a child, at any age. With all my heart I pray that I never have to. My prayers are with your family.

I had to read through the whole thread trying to figure out what SIL meant because I thought it was Son-in- law and you took your wife to tell her mother and it made no sense. Sister-in-law, sorry for your losses everyone.
