Generally speaking, I disagree. Look at the rest of the world, except for maybe some of the Asian countries. Americans seem to work more with less time off.

But they actually work when they are there

I mean I'm not speculating I hire people. I refuse to work with Americans and Brits are worse. Americans are dumb, do shoddy work and want twice the pay for it.

Americans are spoiled.

Don't you know? Everyone is a victim in today's socierty.

But seriously, hard work, perseverance, and a positive attitude can take you incredibly far in the world...much further than natural intelligence and a lazy attitude.

First, you should establish what success is. What you call success I probably don't. What does it profit a man if he gain the whole world but lose his own soul?

IMO, corporate America doesn't portray the true "success in America". Don't get me wrong, obviously our economy is heavily depended on "corporate America", but if you look at it from an individual perspective.

Let's say you just graduated from college and you get a job at a corporation. If your goal is to move up the latter, you have to become a "company man" which means you have to think in the best interest of the company. You have to be loyal to the company, etc, but you have to be more loyal to your company than they are to you.

When I think of success in America, I think of someone who built their wealth on their own, which means they have their own business. They are not loyal to anyone but themselves and their family..

Most corporations don't really promote it's employees to think innovative. Of course it depends on the company, but the mindset of "but that's how we have always done it" plaques companies..
