https://carifree.com/dentists/blog/eduction/study-shows-alarming-consumption-of-acidic-sports-drinks-by-youth/

quote:

A recent study demonstrates once again the popularity of acidic sports drinks and their detriment to the oral health of kids in Britain. The study highlights the low pH of these drinks: “Many sports drinks have a pH below 5.5, the critical pH for the demineralization of enamel, leading to erosion.”(1,2) The study warns dental providers to pay attention to the consumption of these drinks and shares that most parents are unaware of the harm these beverages can do. Many kids reported consuming the beverages outside of a sporting event, and drinking them simply because they enjoy the taste. With the onset of summer, be sure to talk to parents about the consumption of acidic beverages including sports drinks.

How the hell do you people think this? A regular coke has nearly identical calories and sugar to Gatorade, but the Gatorade has seven times as much sodium.

Well, that's because of all the electrolytes.

At the very least, get the zero-calorie option.

Like everything else, some of those are good and some nasty as hell.
lime green powerade regular pretty good
zero calorie version; I'd rather drink prestone
grape powerade regular pretty good
grape powerade zero calorie tastes close enough to be acceptable.

Gatorade seems to be better at the low cal versions than powerade.

I know it's a fun thing to bitch about, child obesity. But I've got one or more young kids whom I have to take to school and a bunch of other shite where kids are and I really don't see that many overweight kids. Is it a regional thing? I see a lot of shitty kids who can't sit still or say "sir" but at least they're not fat, in my limited experience.

Since when did Gatorade become a regular refreshment instead of a sports drink to be consumed following exercise or other strenuous activity?

When they stated marketing it as such.
