When will Texas get casinos? I'm visiting some friends in Dallas and they tell me how a bunch consistently go to Shreveport or Oklahoma to gamble. Has there been any legislation recently to pass casinos in Texas?

Too many Baptist blue hairs. There's a lot of money pushing for it though so I'm sure it'll pass one day.

The Lake Charles Casinos would be in trouble if Texas ever allows casinos. Nothing but Texas plates at them most of the time

If you drive through a casino parking garage in Shreveport, the mass majority of vehicles have Texas plates.

Never understood why Texas let's all that money leave.

I've always assumed some people in Texas are getting paid handsomely to prevent Texas casinos.

When the Texas politicians ask for more money than Louisiana is willing to pay them.

Yeah, Lake Charles would suffer. I have family who drive from Houston to gamble on the regular.

Tilman Fertitta was the biggest money behind gambling in Texas. As soon as he got the license for Golden Nugget in LC he started putting his money with the opposition.

Just drive up to Thackerville like everyone else in Dallas. Or take the shuttle bus with the old people.

You can't miss the casino. It's right next to the interstate.

Sounds like you've never been to a real casino.

Thats why you put them near borders (shreveport, lake chuck) of states that dont have them. To collect the money from other states trash.

Exception in louisiana is indian and downtown nola, which is full of tourist. And br, which has more trash in a 20 mile radius than the rest of the state combined

There is more money pushing against it though hence no passage. All the border state casinos push back very hard. Especially that POS just over the border in Oklahoma.

Tillman was some of the biggest money pushing for gambling in Galveston, but now that he owns a Lake Charles casino, well, he has kind of gone silent on the matter. Strange.

Every casino on the west side of Louisiana will close if that happens.
