Drive around the STM parking lot.

Sending a couple kids to STM is going to run you $20k/ year - that’s not happening in middle class families now matter how much we like to act like it is.

Look around the campus - everything about it screams we’ve got more money and not afraid to show it.

I’ve got no problem with any of it, but don’t stick your head in the sand about it either.

Curious if you think that Catholic and St. Joseph's families are all rich folks as well.

Be sure to get them one of these if you do decide to send them to Southside.

And to go to STM they will need an F-150 with leveling kit.

In BR?

I’m not all that familiar wit me either. I was talking about STM in Lafayette.

For academics the answer is ESA or Ascension. I graduated from ESA way back when and it is not the same ESA anymore. However, it is head and shoulders above STM and Teurlings in education.

That’s what double the tuition and no significant athletic investments will do for you.

Lafayette High and Acadiana are great schools

Exactly. They don't have to thumb their noses at the public schools. Their kids can get great educations at these places.

I guess I just don't see it. It kinda looks like an old rundown school TBH. They have freakin shoes hanging from the power lines by the stadium and the parking lot is terrible.

I see the rich kids with their Porsches and BMW's, but I also see kids in normal ole HS cars and trucks. My kid drives a 20 year old truck to school with 200k miles on it.

When I was at STM 10 or so years ago there we're plenty of nice cars in the parking lot, but also plenty of beaters (I was driving a beater). I think the "rich kid" stereotype has grown since I have left, but if OP has done his job his kids will be fine there.

I am still coming to grips with sending my kid there. Its a good school. But I can't get the bad taste out of my mouth. It's the 18yr old high schooler in me....

Your kid will be a winner at STM. They always run up the score in their games
And protect their preciously athletes over the every day students. No worried about getting MeToo'ed at STM.

I dont have any misguided dreams of my kids going pro or even getting a scholarship. I think the values and life lessons you learn by competing in team sports are important. Also they can learn how to win at an early age. You need to win in all areas of life and learning what all it takes to win in sports can help them learn to win everywhere else.

I think the private Lafayette schools are as follows:

1a. Ascension
1b. ESA
2. Teurlings
3. STM

I know CHS has the rich kids of Baton Rouge reputation but I knew plenty of kids from working class families when I was there. Episcopal is where the real rich kids go.
