That is interesting. I think one of the best AMB breeders in the country is in Louisiana.

Do you know a phone number or a website?

I honestly can't remember the name but I've been told there is a world-renowned breeder in Louisiana.

Knew a guy that had a French mastiff. Cool dog but always something wrong with it. It was dead in 2 years and cost him a shitload of coin in that short lifespan.

Buff dogs.. they look like they are on steroids some beautiful dogs right there.. I'm looking to buy or adopt one closer to my home. I found a breeder in Slidell that has bullmastiffs and I think I'm going to go that route unless someone can talk me out of it.

Never owned a Bull Mastiff, but did own an Old English Mastiff which are larger than the Bull. Our dog, Nimitz (named after the aircraft carrier because that's how big they get) topped out at 216 pounds (he was in good shape). He was an incredibly gentle dog but an intimidating dog and an excellent kid dog. Our kids ranged from toddler to 3 and 5 years old when we got him. He lived for just under 9 years.

My advice for having any of the Mastiffs is that they need a lot of room and a lot of attention. They are very people connected dogs and become lonely very easily which can lead to some unwanted behavior like, pulling your 4x4 fence posts out of the ground, concrete and all. Your food bill will become pretty $$$ and be prepared to pick up cow-pie sized craps. If you have the room, the time and want a great family dog, Mastiffs are hard to beat.

As mentioned previously, check out an Old English Bulldog. I have a female that is 1 1/2 years old. She is the happiest dog I've ever seen in my life. They live normal life spans and not as many health issues as mastiffs or traditional bulldogs.

I took a lot of this into consideration and I'm ok with it. Never would imagine a dog pulling out the fence post. I would've been pissed off. Lol. Thanks for your input it helped alot

I loved my Bull Mastiff but she died in 2010 when I was in Afghanistan. She was very calm and friendly. She could be a bit overprotective of me and my wife at times though.

A few bits of information for you.
1. Life expectancy.
2. They slobber and drool, keep a rag handy to wipe on occasion.
3. They pass gas. I am talking evacuate the room for a moment, but that does have to do with their diet.
4. They are prone to joint problems in their later years. Hip displysia. Check out the genetic background of the pup you are buying.
They make great family pets. They are loving and loyal. They are not for a small home or apartment. Good luck.

Any pros and cons I may need to know?

My mini dachshund tried to fight one luckily I caught it held him back. Wouldn't have gone how he envisioned

Go to the shelter and let the kids pick out a dog...the dog you save will show your family love like you couldn't imagine!...and you will have a great feeling knowing you saved the little fella!

YUUGE dogs. I know someone that has one named Capone. Badass dogs but just know bigger dogs don't live as long, eat more, and shite bigger.

The breed is also known for it's drooling.
