Had one for ten years, great dogs and very very loyal. They don't eat as much as you think, my lab eats way more. Will die within ten years it's just the way it is with them. I had a English mastiff btw. Highly recommend if you have the time for them, very needy dogs.

My cousin owned one named Satan, it was a very intimidating animal

I have a French mastiff right now. Yeas they can have health issue and are prone to hip dysplasia just like all large breed dogs. Mine is about as lazy as they get. Loves car rides though.
Best advice if you get the bullmastiff is train early and often. The mastiffs are such a big breed that they sometimes don't realize how much of an issue they can cause. So train early.
Mine is a bit of an a-hole, hard headed and stubborn. Don't introduce anything to them as puppies that you won't want them to do as adults

If you are considering a Bullmastiff, I recommend you also check into the Cane Corso and into the South African Boerboel. I've had a Cane Corso and they are great dogs. I'm actually picking up my new one this next weekend.

Best dog I've ever had. Mine is half English and approaching 10 years old now. Very protective, which can be a little annoying if you live close to other people...barks at every noise. Super gentle and lazy AF.

Which breeder are you going with for your Cane Corso. I am interested in this breed also, but not sure which breeder to use.

You'll need a backhoe to clean up after it.

cons I may need to know?
Now everyone will know that deep inside, you're weak and need a power animal. I guess it's cheaper than a jacked up F250.
Open carry?

Have a 5 year old English Mastiff. Weighs in around 168 pounds. My lab walks right under him when he is standing up. Great dogs, great demeaner. We have slobber towels everywhere and this is the only only drawback to these dogs.
Basically a family friendly big dog that wants to sit in your lap and be close.

My BM is 5, drools a lot, eats a lot, shits a lot. He's a big baby, tries to sit on u, thinks he's a lap dog.

As someone who owns s Boerboel, they are worth a look. Won't be as abundant (I would expect them to cost a bit more because of it) and may not be big enough for you, though if you are considedring a bullmastiff then a large male Boerboel would be similar in size.
