I had a group presentation in an English class my sophomore year. The guy who agreed to do the bulk of the talking didn't show up. I hadn't prepared that well and we had come up with a shite presentation anyway. I tried to wing it and carry it. I'm bad at public speaking anyway. It was a conglomeration of frick. It was partially peer graded by the class, so I think most people took pity on us.

-DO NOT turn your back to the audience and just read off the screen.
-Take your time and don't panic. EVERYBODY else in the room's shiznit stinks, just like your's.
-If all else fails, just before you go on, think of a sad story like some mother who has three kids die in an automobile accident...that should put your worries into perspective.

Took a public speaking class in undergrad. Had my final speech to give that was worth the most points.

About fifteen minutes beforehand, I get the urge to take a dump.

Go to the bathroom and drop my shorts and go. Pull up my pants and I realize something...

...one of the toilets had overflowed and the entire bathroom was covered in toilet water.

My shorts, which were a white khaki color, were completely soaked.

I gave the presentation anyway. I didn't say anything about it. I was sweating bullets and red faced and it was completely awkward.

No one made fun of me. That would have been better. Instead, no one said anything and the instructor said, "Good job," and that was that.

The important thing is knowing your subject matter inside and out. Confidence is your friend.

Im interning this summer and also have to give a presentation in a couple weeks.

My first speech in college went horrible I thought. We had to meet with the professor after each speech to get feedback. She asked how I felt and I told her I didnt feel confident the whole time. She said I appeared to be confident and acted like I knew what I was doing.

I dont know if she was just trying to build my confidence or what but it worked.

So now if I dont feel confident I think about that and trick myself into thinking I look alot better than I feel.... Fake it til ya make it I guess

Pro Tip: If anyone ever asks you a question at the end of the presentation assume they are insulting you and get very confrontational.

Not a presentation, but once in public speaking class it was my turn to give an oral speech spur of the moment off the top of my head. Instructor said "give me your thoughts on underage drinking"

I stood up, glazed look int eye, said "I'm too hungover for this shite" then sat down
