I got a ticket over the weekend for 80 in a 55 in Georgia. Ive been told this will be considered a "super speeder" ticket. I am a resident of Georgia, but not from the area. Can someone from Georgia tell me what this means? Should I just pay it? Fight it?

A lot more money. I paid the fine(77 in a 45(2 lane backcountry road from Macon to Athens), was like 400ish) but got the speed reduced to save insurance

I have friends that have gotten similar tickets in other states. They hired a traffic lawyer for about $1k and they were able to get out of it with minimal fees. It looks like I'm looking at a $550 ticket and $250 super speeder penalty with fees.

I don't mind just paying it. My real concern is insurance.

I was looking for a picture to goof on the OP and that image was actually quasi- informative so I posted it.

It is goofy, I'll allow.

you're not gonna go to jail or anything, but your'e gonna pay a shitton of money for your ticket. If you're going a certain amount over the speed limit (25? maybe) or you hit a certain speed (either 80 or 85) you get a SS ticket. It bascially just means you're gonna pay out the arse for the ticket, nothing m ore.

Who gave you the ticket? Was it a State Trooper or a County Cop? If it was a County Cop it's usually easy to call the courthouse and speak with the person handling your ticket. Depending on your record you can typically get it bumped down to a non-moving violation and all you have to do is pay the fee. All they really care about is the money. You were not pulled over for your safety.

You can speak to the prosecutor and offer to plead guilty and pay the fines associated with your super speeder ticket if they will reduce the speed on the ticket to a speed that will not be reported to your insurance company. That will most likely be something like 69/55. You'll still have the hefty fine but they won't report it to your insurance provider.

Sorry but you don't really have a frame of reference here. YOu don't live in GA.

Yeah, they're gonna reduce his 80+ mph ticket to non-moving. How would that work? Was he in an albertsons parking lot or something?

Don't know but I got a 75 in a 55 bumped down to non moving and I know I'm not the only one who has experienced this.

I remember driving to Atlanta to meet a buddy to go white water rafting.... On 75 just out of West Point, I was doing 80 and people were passing me like I was doing 40......
