Ran into some short movie about them on one of those old movie stations. The wiki didn't really tell me much about either to be honest. But the end of the movie piqued my interest.

Anyone have the summary?

Earl was a Governor. Starr was a burlesque dancer. The Governor banged her on the reg.

I never saw it, but someone told me that it never once mentioned that Earl also had a wife.

He used to bang her at a no-tell motel on Airline Hwy. I think it was the Sugar Bowl near Central Av. When they did the movie, they actually renovated the motel to film there. There also may have been another sleezy motel on Airline nearer the parish line, but I might be confusing Earl Long with Jimmy Swaggart.

Finally, they ran all the hookers and druggies out, and built a CVS drugstore on the lot. There goes the neighborhood.

They were the Louisiana version of JFK and Marilyn Monroe.

And that was pretty recent, too.

The late Jimmy Morrison (6 district congressman) from Hammond - said Earl use to brag about wearing his cowboy boots when banging blaze.

I am old enough to remember him as governor. I remember the day he died and my dad and grandad were saying that was the end. Meaning the end of the Long dynasty. I also remember a strange story about Uncle Earl but I do not know if it is true and will not put it on here. I don't remember anything about Blaze Starr from back then. I was a kid.

Oh come on, man. Why even write this if you aren't going to tell the story?

I recall a story that Earl left the state with Blaze and while he was gone his wife had him declared insane. But when he came back he fired the Health Dept head and appointed a new one who declared him to be sane. After that he would assert he was the only politician in the state who could prove he wasn't crazy.

That is from the movie Blaze. And it is not historically accurate.

Earl was committed by his wife but he did not fire the head of the Health Dept to get out. His lawyer got him released.

Earl was very eccentric (believed by many to be Bi-polar) but was great at campaigning. With his brother's popularity and his campaigning skills he was a political force, but not that great of a governor.

They were both dirty but Huey did much more for the state.
