The mall is indeed shitty, yet it hasn't closed, because Alexandria.

you might be too young to remember, but what was the bar/club that allowed 16+ in? it didn't serve alcohol but played music like a night club

I can't remember the name right now

Golf

Indoor shooting range

Fish/hunt/ATV/boating/water skiing

Symphony/Live theater

Hiking trails/camping

Swimming

Museums/historic places (e.g. Kent House)

I don't know what else to tell you - the town has the same shite as every other village, town, city in the South (save a few exceptions, like Miami, Atlanta, Charleston, etc.) - just fewer options than, say Shreveport or Baton Rouge.

And it doesn't have Shreveport or Baton Rouge traffic and big city problems.

Well then we'll agree to disagree. But I'd bet most young adults would agree there isn't much to do there outside of hunt or fish

I don't know who are more frustrating

the people that think Alex has no redeemable qualities

or the people that think it needs no improvement and is perfect

I agree. I don't mind the place, hell my whole family lives there. I just get bored when I go there. Once I'm older, that probably won't be the case.

Also if you have a restaurant and are looking for an ideal place to expand, go to Alexandria. The people there are desperate for good food and any new, good place to eat will be very popular. Probably the most restaurant starved city of its size in the country.

Quick market research suggests the opposite. They love their chains, Golden Corral and fast food.

Seriously, look around at the landscape and citizens. Alexandria is stuck in the early '90s. Sad, really.

it'll still be the case especially if you come from some place else

everytime we go down, me and the wife leave the kid with the grandparents to go out, and we always inevitably end up at Spirits and then go to Finnegans

every goddamn time

We all know the only reason why people go to/through Alexandria is to get to Avoyelles.
