An elderly couple was in critical condition Monday, a day after a teenager "severely" beat them with a hammer, Kenner police said.
The 16-year-old suspect, whom authorities did not identify because of his age, was booked with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, theft of a motor vehicle and aggravated burglary.
Kenner police said the victims were attacked inside their Teton Street home in the Woodlake subdivision about 3:31 p.m. Sunday.
Officers learned about the attack when the 70-year-old female victim, who was covered in blood, went to a neighbor's house and asked for that person to call 911 to get help for her and her 89-year-old husband, said Lt. Brian McGregor, a Kenner Police Department spokesman.LINK

I vaguely remember a story in Kenner in the 80's where something very similar happened but I think he actually killed the people. My cousin knew the guy and I remember he and his friends talking about it all the time. I think the story was a HS kid was robbing a house, they came home, and he killed them with a hammer from the garage.

16.
He will do a couple of years in juve and come out a harder, meaner guy. No question he will kill his next set of victims. Let's be honest, what are the chances of "reforming" a kid who was willing to beat an elderly couple with a hammer for some cash and a car?

So will he be tried as an adult or a kid?

I'd like to see what this "teen" looks like.

Driftwood subd. Kid went to Curtis at the time. Boy scout. Decided to break into neighbors home who was on vacation and they came home early and surprised him. I recall the weapon was a folding camp shovel. Had a relative who lived a few doors down. Said the police on the scene said that there was gore everywhere.

What ever happened to the kid? A few years in juvi or life on the farm?

If they are old enough to attack a fellow human, the world should know their names.

Nice of them not to jeopardize his applications to Stanford and MIT while they sort out this misunderstanding.

That's a good neighborhood.
I guess the gutter trash finally crossed the moat.
