TD teachers,

Right now I'm looking for the reqs to start teaching in Louisiana. I've already completed my bachelor's degree in history and now am looking for a career path in teaching.

To be certified to teach, would all i have to do is pass the Praxis II and then I'd be hirable? Or are there other steps along the way that I need to pass and look at?

The articles I found on the internet were not too clear on what is required and how to go about doing it so I'm reaching out to you guys. Any help/comments are appreciated!

Are you in the BR area? You have to get certified to teach at most (public) schools. LRCE has an alternate certification program for people like you. It's more involved than just taking the Praxis II.

Praxis I can get you I to schools. Once in you need to enrolled in a certification program and you have 3 years to complete the program plus praxis II and III

Cool, I've read that my old ACT or college GPA might allow me to test out of Praxis I. Any validity in this sentiment?

First you have to write us a mock FB post about how we should all be appreciative of teachers then a mock FB post about how much vacation time you get.
