Last summer, I flew down one of my younger cousins for a week at the beach to help my wife and I with our 2 young kids. However, this year she will be abroad for that week and am going to seek out our normal sitter to see if she would be receptive to coming along. I don't want to insult her with an amount, but don't want to overpay either. Anyone have any experience with bringing a sitter along and what would be considered fair compensation for a week at the beach?

Normal weekly pay with you paying all of her expenses.

I went with my aunt and uncle once on vacation pretty much to take care of their younger kids. It was fun and I know they appreciated having someone play and look after their kids.

I would make sure it's someone close to you/your family because they will be part of things. I didn't get paid but I didn't pay for anything either.

Depending on how old she is and what her exact duties would be, she might do it for free for a week at the beach. Will she have access to beach during the day? Will she be available for social activities at night?

I would think this as well.

I used to babysit as a teen and I would have loved it if I was offered to go along on a vacation. Granted I know I'm taking care of kids on the beach but still...I'm on a beach.

Jones....usually they don't bring a nanny along to watch the kids 24/7. I would think she helps out and will watch the kids at night if the parents want to go out to eat alone or something like that.

OP....make sure you give the girl time to herself on the trip as well. That way you have time as just a family yourself and she can go off and have time to herself.

My kids love the beach. We love to hang out with them at the beach. Mrs Cove and I also like to go out to dinner and have some time to ourselves during the week. I don't see the problem.

OP, I would pay her a few hundred for the week, plus all expenses.

It's not always possible.
We go to the beach, the kid has fun, the nanny gets a free vacation, and mom/dad can go out for a nice meal at night a few times and enjoy themselves.
