This was back when I was about 14.

A buddy of mine had a 17 year old cousin of his show up at his house. He wanted a place to stay as he said he was moving to the area we were in. Me and my buddy started running around with him because he had a truck.

Like 2 weeks after he first arrived he showed up at my house with my buddy in a different truck. He said he had traded his other one for it. We all took off in his truck and went to the Sonic.

At Sonic he started telling us about this gun he had gotten. We all got out of the truck (it was a regular cab S-10. He was standing outside the drivers side door and I was outside the passenger side door. We were looking behind the seat at a 270 deer rifle. The dumb SOB did the bolt action and chambered a round. The fricking gun went off. Talk about deafening in the cab of an S-10. It hit the damn Chevy SUV parked in the stall next to us and I had powder burns on my shin bone area.

The SUV beside us backed up and blocked us in. A few minutes later a black van full of SWAT guys rolled up and came at us with guns drawn. They drug us out of the truck and threw us all to the ground. They cuffed us and put us in separate squad cars. As I am sitting in the back seat of the car I hear the scanner buzzing about the situation.

My friends cousin had actually run away from a youth ranch. The truck, the gun, and everything the guy had was stolen. Even the truck he originally had was stolen as well. I just about shite myself.

They took us to the police station to get statements. Me and my buddy told them we didn't know anything was stolen and had only started hanging out with the guy. Luckily he backed our story up and told the cops we had nothing to do with any of it.

Took a while to get a hold of my old man, but I was released without charges. Thankfully.

Oh I get it now. You make up stories about getting in fights or almost fights involving Sonic. Second one this week. Clever.

You got it all wrong. The stories are real, except for the sonic part.

I remember a shoot out at the Sonic in Ponchatoula years ago. Funny was none of the people involved were from here. It was actually 2 families from Head of Island that were feuding and happened to be there at the same time.

If you live in a small town half of all the action either goes down there or is planned there when you're in high school.

Yeah, it's totally unbelievable. Stuff like that never ever happens amongst teens in rural areas. Obviously OP is covering up his teen history of hanging out at the library everyday.

Sorry I didn't grow up in a small town. Didn't know the allure of Sonic when you're in the middle of nowhere.

I didn't either but would visit relatives in small towns.

Of course, the LSU Wendy's was where everyone went in the 80's to find out where that nights keg party might be happening.

I have some cousins that grew up in a small town. There Friday & Saturday nights consisted of driving back and forth on a 1 mile strip. The sonic was the turn around point. Lol.
