That's why the lining is there. None of mine have a lining and I never wear anything under.

Reminds me of tourists from Ohio wearing Under Armour (waist band showing) under their shin length swim trunks.

Got a pair of polo swim trunks a few years ago in the fall for 18 bucks at Dillard's. My other two pair are from sams club. 2-3 inches above the knee fit, kind of a hybrid with some elastic on the waistband but a board short front (4 holes for the laces, with no elastic in the very front). Works for me.
