I'm still about a year out from buying, but have been trying to narrow my focus.

I've got a Yukon now, had it since 05. Ideally, I'd like to just upgrade to a new tahoe/yukon but I've got issues with the cargo area and obviously the prices are now insane.

Trucks aren't out of the question, but I'd prefer an SUV. Some of the crossovers are okay, I guess, but I hate to give up towing.

I like the new 4runners.

I used to drive a '93. Miss that old beater.

I like the look, but the interior features seem very lacking for the price

Had a 4runner for 13 years, solid vehicles, no complaint. But I didn't like the new ones and bought a Highlander instead. Great riding vehicles, very comfortable. Would recommend.

4Runner is the only option if you use it off-road at all, if it's just a grocery getter I'd go MDX, Pilot or Highlander.

not planning on going off road, but I want something that can tow if needed

MDX and highlander are a little feminine for my taste

I'm kind of in the same boat and I think it's a crime what's still being called an "SUV." Modern SUV's have become sporty minivans with very little of the functionality that originally made them popular.

My sister got a new Jeep Grand Cherokee like five months ago. It's pretty freaking sweet.

It just kills me that you can't find a decent 2 row SUV anymore. It seems a 4runner or grand cherokee are basically your only options

Can't argue that they're making a really good looking vehicle but I wouldn't touch a Jeep after the problems my wife had with hers several years ago. It was a horrendous POS that had so many warranty repairs we should have been paid for all our time lost taking it in. From what I understand, this has gotten even worse now that Fiat is involved. No. Frickin. Way.

yeah, I mean I drive a Ford F-150 and would never buy anything but a truck, but the Grand Cherokee was the most recent SUV that I've been inside

You could get a crew cab truck and put a low profile (roll n lock for example) bed cover on it. Unless you have 3 or more children the crew cab truck will provide adequate seating and the bed cover will provide you with covered storage of an SUV.

The truck will have a much longer wheelbase though. Yukon's wheelbases are actually a few inches shorter than a regular cab truck. A crew cab truck is as long as a suburban.

The truck will be about $20M cheaper than the suv with the same options.

Nothing real flashy about a 4runner. But it keeps going and going.

Do you need a 3rd row seating? If no, i'd go truck.

Can't really go wrong with a 4Runner.

I'm in the same boat. I was looking at a Wrangler more for the fun of it, 4Runner has a nice SUV or back to a truck. Truck prices just seem so crazy but apparently according to the thread last week there is a large price difference between sticker and sale.

Yeah, I'm currently driving a Tundra Crew Max and it's been great but I'm getting close to 200K on it and really want a smaller vehicle that my wife is more comfortable driving. It has to be able to pull a 22' boat as well so I'm probably just going to hang on to the truck a few more years or until it starts to show some age-related mechanical problems.

I would definitely look into the 2015-16 models. Preferably, the Trail Editions.
