Assuming you only have the clothes you're wearing now and an umbrella...

Do use the umbrella as a rain catch, and turn it upside down?

OR

Do use the umbrella as the base for a good shelter to protect you from rain and sun, and have a position normally like a dome?

Let's assume you cant do both... basically what's more important a great way to get drinking water and a decent shelter, or a decent way to get drinking water and a great shelter?

A great shelter is pointless if you die of dehydration

I know it's gross but I'd stay at the La Quinta around the corner.

You could still catch rain, just not as well as you potential could

Catch rain. An umbrella wouldn't make a great shelter, so water is more important.

Rain catch for as long as it would last easily. Stills would need to be dug as well. A decent shelter can be made out of palm in less than an hr.

Disassemble the umbrella. Make a spear out of the stick and make a fish trap and something to create a spark out of other pieces. I could probably find something on the island to catch rain

Yep. That umbrella is catching shrimp/krill/minnows asap. As previously stated, overhead cover is quickly achieved from native flora.

Are you dumb? One means my survival. The other means very remote comfort in an already uncomfortable scenario. Of course you turn it upside down.

Use the umbrella as a raft

Hold it over my head so I don't get a sunburn and drink my pee.

Umbrella won't hold water. Are you thinking of using it as a filter? Poon Lim killed birds and hydrated with their blood...and survived.
