I am genuinely curious how this particular scam would work.
At some point the seller is going to ask for payment in some form upfront. Maybe the seller is counting on an emotional purchase due to the price, and they're more likely to fork over a small amount, and its still a win for this scam artist.

That's how I figure that a lot of scams work. Also they might give you a deposit with a bad check which can take a while to be verified with your bank. Etc.
But with this supposedly going through Amazon who I didn't even realize provided one time seller services like this I think that Amazon would provide some kind of protection. Like Amazon would hold the money until the car was delivered and inspected or something. I don't really know how amazon terms work with third party sellers.

Saw something similar where the dumb arse girl took the bait and sent the guy $3k in GreenDot money cards. Then what turned into free shipping was another email with a fake Amazon logo asking for $1k for shipping insurance. Yep, got her again. So now she is out $4k and wanting these people arrested and her money back.

No such thing as a 2011 Acura MDX with a 3.5L engine. Second generation comes with a 3.7L.

Well for one thing Fort Dearborn ceased to be a military post in 1837. Either the guy is lying or he's the world's oldest active duty soldier...

So I guess that's how they get you. They send you a fake email from "amazon." You don't actually go through the website at all. That's pretty weak sauce. A fool and his money.

With that big of a discount, it's probably worth flying to Chicago to handle this in person.
