Just saw a commercial for a law firm advertising suing for hair loss during chemo.

Do these people honestly have no soul?

Not sure how that's going to work since you have to go through an "educational" visit before starting a round of chemo and they give you a document for each chemo you are about to receive that breaks down what it is, what it does, and what will likely happen (nausea, hair loss, etc) so you certainly shouldn't be shocked when the listed side effects happen.

Most all of these medical suits are so detrimental to practicing medicine. So many patients now will refuse certain drugs/treatments that are far superior because some money hungry jackass made a commercial about how evil they are

Nice outburst.

It's all about whether the patient is informed about possible side effects and whether the maker of the drug provided adequate warning.

If you don't and the patient suffers a loss and it's something they should have been apprised of before consenting to treatment, then you have a lawsuit.

For frick's sake y'all just shite on just about anything.

It's possible. Chemo is a pretty destructive form of treatment

How frickin shallow of a person are you to give a rat's arse about your hair when you are fighting cancer?

Who doesn't know that you'll most likely lose your hair with chemo?

And I think there have been cases of PERMANENT hair loss.

You'd be amazed what people sue doctors for in Louisiana. I don't hear any stories or anything because the people I know involved in the process are tight lipped as all hell, but she just shakes her head when people bring it up.

A quick Google search says lots of patients suffered permanent hair loss.

Well the permanent aspect wasn't brought up until after I posted.

So, there!

I don't see it as being shallow. A lot of people don't want the kind of attention that being completely bald brings in public. It's less of a problem for men because being bald is more of a normal thing for them, but it can be a problem for women and children. Fighting cancer is a private thing for some people--they don't want everyone to know about it.

Likewise, a lot of men want testicular implants after having their testicles removed because of cancer, and a lot of women want breast reconstruction after having breast cancer.

It's not shallow. People just want to be whole, and they don't want people to focus on them just because cancer made them look different. Cancer is tough enough as it is.

Again, it's about informing the patient.

Let's say you have a potentially fatal infection and a doctor wants to start treatment. He puts you under and you wake up without one of your legs. You are upset and you think it's okay if the doctor says, "Well, at least you're not dead"?

I had an allergic reaction and they didn't inform me that the life saving shot of penicillin would cause a tiny puncture wound that required a band-aid. Who can I sue?
