Anyone have any recommendations for a good oral surgeon in the BR area? I need to get my daughter in to see someone. She is a bit of a complicated case and need an opinion on a path forward.

My daughter is 10 and has only lost one tooth. Four others have been pulled by the dentist, but the adult teeth are not moving. She also has two significant rare medical issues that could be involved. Hoping to get a solid opinion on whether we should continue to wait or do something else to avoid future problems.

Thanks.

Thanks. Bulot is not on my crappy insurance list but we may go for a consultation anyway.

Most oral surgeons will be out of network on your insurance (I do insurance and billing for an oral surgeon) . The key is to see a DDS, MD which means they have completed both dental school and medical school. From Dr. Bulot's website it appears that he has done that. I recommend Dr. Richard Akin though.

I had a difficult extraction a few years ago and my dentist referred me HERE. The guy is an M.D. as well as a D.D.S. He's not cheap but the medical staff was first rate. I can't say the same about the clerical and insurance people.

Start calling now to find out who is in your network. You'll be a few months out on any appointment. Then when you get the names, come back here for recommendations

this. sounds like you will need a orthodontist on board as well. I'd talk to the surgeon about who they recommend.

Bulot typically doesn't charge for consults but you need to talk to his office prior to scheduling to verify.

Don't waste your money, just go pick up a nurse practitioner outside of home depot and let him do it for cheaper.

It might be weeks with summer being upon us but not months. They can also put you on a cancellation list if something opens up sooner.

Leo Regan, Mike Cassadaban, or anyone with that group. Mike is particularly good with kids.

Ok, so let's throw out anyone that has say 35 years experience and went to school before the MD OS programs were around. Make sense.

Most of them are retired. Most of the guys in Baton Rouge are all young.

This sounds more like getting a pediatric dentist to evaluate if you need to get one of the school programs involved.

She's already seeing a pediatric dentist (Garon) and orthodontist. The dentist defers to the orthodontist. The orthodontist (Fruge) isn't quite sure due to her medical complications, so that's why he's advised obtaining a surgeon's opinion now.

Michael Casadaban

Met him a couple years ago when the wife needed a biopsy. Seemed extremely well-versed/skilled in his field and had an all around great demeanor etc.

Whoever you choose will consult with the other doctors involved. Sounds like the only missing piece to the puzzle is the oral surgeon...since you've been seeing the other pediatric specialists. There's also no shame in seeing multiple surgeons (if finances allow it) to see what all your options are.
