Last year some buddies and I went to Grenada, MS and stayed at Hugh White state park in some cabins and walked over to The Dogwoods course each morning and afternoon to play. We enjoyed cooking outside every night, drinking, and we could be loud and whatnot. The golf course was pretty nice too which is obviously important.

Looking for a similar type venue this year within a 4 hour drive from BR. Looking at Black Bear Golf Course but their cabins seem to be booked for months. Anyone know of any places to look into in Mississippi or maybe even western Alabama somewhere? Thanks!

Percy Quinn has 4 BR golf villas right next to the course. Pretty decent course also.

Robert Trent Jones' Magnolia Grove in Mobile

Magnolia Grove was recently named one of the "Top 50 Public Courses" by Golf World Magazine readers. The Crossings and Falls courses are also listed in Golf Digest's "Places to Play" as two of the nation's great value courses and as "America's Top 50 Affordable Courses."

I haven't played there, but I've played at several other RTJ courses. They're very nice.

Last year, we did RTJ and played Magnolia Grove, Capitol Hill and Cambrian Ridge over three days.

Do Capitol Hill in Prattville. Three outstanding golf courses at the same place. We are actually going back this year and making a 3 day trip out of it. 5 rounds.

How did you like that 240 yard par 3?

Black Bear also has a hotel with pool 50 yards from the clubhouse.

Was an absolute beast. Think it best to take 2 pw's at it.

We liked to idea of not doing a hotel so we could all hang out and cook/drink and get loud and not really bother anyone

One of our options for sure. Is Quail Hollow nice?

We are thinking about RTJ for sure. Do you know if anyone of them have a lodging set up where its kinda private cabin type places?

The hotel is closer to a condo. Can't have more than 4-5 rooms. It's very small.

Played course 3 times on trip.

4, 5, 5 I think were the results...not good

There is a house at Capitol Hill. When we were there last year it was the only one close to the property. Nice place sleeps quite a few.

Lots of good golf along the coast. The Bridges, The Oaks, Windance, The Grand Bear, The Preserve, and Shell Landing to mention some. She'll may have fallen on hard times though.

Check into the Casinos. Most will have some sort of package deal with one or more plus most have shuttle services to and from the courses.

I grew up playing on all these courses for high school and college. Worked at Windance for about 5 years. Good golf and good people in the area.

I would recommend LakeWood or StoneBridge in NOLA. 2 outstanding public courses in a city that is perfect to eat drink an party hard with your boys in.

Some buddies and I do a Alabama golf trip every year, plenty of places to stay in Birmingham, Prattville and Mobile. Played Magnolia Grove the last 2 years and it is by far my favorite now, awesome courses.

Quail hollow used to be an awesome course years ago when I lived in Mississippi.

I would suggest Dancing Rabbit, one of the best courses I've played. LINK
