I saw this book at the mall "How to work for difficult people", every time I heard my boss coming, I'd pick it up like I was reading it. I knew I had won when he snatched it from me and yelled "I'm not difficult to work with".

Do my job without updating him on every facet of my job.

1. It pisses him off not knowing 100% what myself and my team are working on.

2. It pisses him off that he doesn't understand our business as well as I do and I'm not here to explain it to him.

I’ve found some bosses have certain pet peeves and it’s best to learn what they are to keep them off your back.

It’s usually some trivial or unimportant thing but even if you get nothing else done that day they stay happy because that thing is done.

I randomly use Roman numerals on things I send him, or change fonts on reports etc.

The company uses a CRM tool and wants everyone using it to catalog all of their interactions with customers. Entering data in that thing is a colossal waste of time…. We talk daily, I keep a spreadsheet that I present to management weekly. I basically refuse to do it. She admitted the other day that it’s yielded no benefit from the standpoint of increasing sales or gaining customers than before we had it. I manage our National Accounts and I bring in more volume and revenue than the rest of the Salesforce combined, so I know it aggravates her, but she doesn’t frick with me about it too much

It’s not supposed to be convenient for you, it allows her to see what’s going on and have what she needs to replace you if you ever leave so she doesn’t lose your entire book of business.

Sometimes I'll load the dishwasher but leave the hand wash pots in the sink.
