Straight guy with a gay roommate

Ran into this old friend I haven't seen in a long time. His roommate is gay. I am wondering if they are "roommates" or not? I guess the real question is if they share a bed or not.

I roomed with a guy who was interested in men and women my freshman year. He was generally a cool dude. He actually helped me get chicks. Would talk me up before I met them.

I was roommates in college with a guy who turned out to be gay. I didn't know it at the time--I think he was in full transition mode. He was one of the bitchiest little roommates I ever had.

Who cares? Does it really change things if your friend is gay? If he would be ashamed to say he is gay then that might be his way of saying.. I am gay.. If not then he has no reason to lie.
