OK, here's your first step. Post this on the Money Board if you want to go this route.

Whoa, guy. You just lost my business with that attitude.

OK, I'm done. Why not call DHH? I guarantee they can help.

I guess I'll do it. Was hoping a business owner would help to answer. Not sure too many people will see it on money board but will give it a shot.

Google Louisiana DME licenses and permits
Looks like DME is regulated by the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy

What's next? How to do payroll? How to budget overhead? How to get insurance? How to sell medical supplies? How to balance cost and profits?
Dude you're fricked if you can't even figure out the permits.

No, I've got all that. Not worried at all. Just need to know who to contact first.

I hope you don't think this is a quick process. Lets say your selling gloves or something direct to the public you have a quick path to startup.
Now if your selling a device and going to bill Medicare, strap in for the long haul to get Medicare certified. If you are going to branch out and try to get reimbursed by other insurance companies then you are in for an even longer haul. A DME is typically a company that supplies patients with product, then bills the patients insurance, then waits around to get paid 60 days or more. I hope you have some capitol to make it in the mean time.
Honestly if this is a product that is specialized your best bet would be to find an already established medical distributor and wholesale it to them.
You got a lot of ducks to get in a row, even before having any clue what your selling.

Your company lawyer, business manager or your partner who understands business.
If you don't have one of those, re-consider your plans.

Kraut Dawg, thank you very much. This is exactly what I was looking for...useful info. Yes, right now I only know of wholesale distribution. Yes, I am in the medical field and know there is a very big need. No, not scooters or buttons. I'll check out sec. of state's office. Thanks!

Why don't you go to potential competitors as an alleged customer & see what info they give you? If it's wholesale, and I'm assuming you're already in the medical industry, I've learned sales reps love to tell you more than they should. That's what I've been doing the past month, getting tips from competitors under the guise of sales. Just ask them what you need to know. They may not know but could give you info to the next step.
You sound like you work for Endframe.
