I'll be staying in that area for about a month for work. What's the area like? Decent grocery stores nearby? Need to keep my glock on me?

That's a terrible part of town

ETA:

I wouldn't agree to stay anywhere close to there. Stay in one of the hotels downtown so you don't get killed.

There's nothing wrong with the Hilton garden inn by the airport.

Frick....figures my company would put me up there. I guess it's slim pickens on hotels at the moment

multiple glocks and a kevlar vest would be better

Not the best part of town. Some decent hotels by the airport. Scotlandville is less dangerous than Zion City.

Go to Tony's seafood....but only during the day.

Would you really want to spend a month in that part of town?

Sounds like your boss wants you dead. They probably took a life insurance policy out on you.

Try to get into one of the downtown hotels if you can.

I mean, Harding stays busy and you won't be the only guy in an airport hotel. The immediate area is not a complete war zone, but it's not a good neighborhood. It's near a very bad section, and there's not many restaurants beyond fast food.

Sorry to hijack the thread but I haven't seen your boy Darth around in a long time. Did you two have biker beef that got settled in the streets and he's riding with that big MC in the sky? Banland?

Thanks for the heads up. We can usually demand our company move us if we feel unsafe. But I wasn't sure what the alternatives were with displacements. I'll ask about downtown

The Hilton downtown is nice but there are cheaper options around there if you have a tight budget.

Honestly the best choice if you need to stay for 4-5 weeks - especially if you are sharing a vehicle with coworkers. I'd give downtown a shot even if you have to "move" to a different hotel in a week or two.

Holiday Inn Express just opened and is pretty nice from what I hear. There's a Hampton, Hilton, Indigo, and some independent hotels. I think all of them have shuttles to the airport. There is a grocery store on 4th downtown called Matherne's. There's a pharmacy, some restaurants, and something to do other than sit in your hotel room. Jogging trail on the river.

If the downtown hotels are all booked, try the College/Constitution area hotels.

I wouldn't stay in the airport hotels for more than a night or two. They are newer and safe enough, but I can easily see how someone unfamiliar with the area could get into a bad neighborhood nearby. Not much entertainment nearby either.

Pass there every day I go to work. The hotels right across from the airport are ok as far as safety goes. As far as grocery stores go..... Go all the way down Harding/Hooper into central for that. Only about a 5-10 min drive depending on the time of day.

Pretty much like others have said though. A wrong turn here or there will have you in some pretty sketchy areas of town.
