Does anyone ever take a few days and have a staycation at the house? I did one in June and it was awesome. I played golf, grilled everyday, did some yard work that I wanted to do, and slept in a little.

They are wonderful. I would rather travel for vacation than not, but sometimes you just need to recharge the batteries.

Life's too short for that. Take a look at all the places that you haven't been to yet and think about how you could've gone there.

Staycations are trashy, people that use the word "staycation" bother me

Sometimes it's nice to just relax. Probably wouldn't want to take more than two days plus the weekend for one but sounds relaxing.

I like doing that...trouble is, I can't fully disengage from work. Phone calls, e-mail, etc. keeps me from really enjoying myself.

Golf
Grilling at home
Yard work

All the time. It's quite sad that you rarely get to relax like that op

More examples of poor people trying to justify their lack of ambition.

You're seriously going to argue a vacation at the house is better than a weekend at Seaside.

By the very definition, what you are doing is not a vacation. It's not-doing-shite while your company continues to try and make moves in the business world.

What am I missing?

Ya. I always thought a staycation meant getting a hotel room in the city you live in?

Rhymes with "Gay Nation" for a reason.

Unless you're a 30-something milf, you can't use this ghey word.

That's just called not going to work. Don't give it a dumb name.

I'm off every other Friday so that sounds like two weekends a month for us during the summer.

My staycations are going to a hotel or B&B in Nola. It may only be a short distance from my house, but I love a few nights away from home to go relax and eat out for every meal.

Not for any red blooded American who owns land in the summer, unfortunately.

I would rather visit a place between Laffy and Destin. Day trip so I don't have to pay for a hotel or deal with flying.

I'm not going to pick it over our trip to Hawaii or Florida, but I'll take a Thursday and Friday off once a year and roll it into a nice little 4 day where we can stay local and hit up the amusement park if we wanted or I can spend two days working on a project that I would like to finish. To each his own.
