How pervasive is this in Sherwood? I would think it's concentrated near Florida and moving south, but I haven't been out that way in some time.

That type is taking over all of Baton Rouge and has been since Katrina. Most areas that were palatable before are now overrun, and they reproduce like wild fricking rabbits.
Try going out for something fun in BR that doesn't cost a lot of money, you'll see what I'm talking about.

North Sherwood was going down pre Katrina.
Hurricane Katrina helped the area go down quicker.
I use to own and rent duplexes in the area. After Katrina I lost a lot of good tenants when people like this moved in. It got to the point I tried living onsite to manage my properties and it was way too dangerous, so I moved out and sold my places.
I do miss the crackhead girl on girl fights in the street.
Oh yeah I miss the 21 gun salutes to thuggery every Friday night.
When one landlord evicted a tenant, I do miss miss a young man jumping on top of his duplex butt naked swinging his you know what rapping. I felt sorry for the BRPD officer who responded to that call it was sad and funny at the same time.
Cannot say North Sherwood without seeing a chained up pit bull to a light pole. Which was sad that Pit Bull was an animal that loved human interaction.
Common practice In the area is momma renting a place to let her drugged out thugs live there selling drugs while she lives in a nicer area because crime is to bad off North Sherwood. Kicker is she had section 8 pay the rent. When BRPD or the sheriff would do a drug raid momma would finally show up with curlers and house shoes on saying what a great boy her thug was!
I got lucky, a younger Latino entrepreneur came in buying up a few duplexes and he paid me well over what they were worth to buy me out. At first he was trying to bring up the area. Now I think he sees the reality is only thugs and druggies want to live in the area.
It is sad that the area is basically a war zone and a good place to pickup any type of drugs you want.

I grew up in the Sherwood area. That looks like the neighborhood around Belaire High School.
