Tell those Seattle people he didn’t like blacks or gays. They’ll fight each other over who gets to tear it down.

The artwork has been for sale since then, although the owners have declined purchase offers.

Burke points out that the bronze sculpture is privately owned, and sits on private property.

That's all that really matters to this story.

I live close to the statue, I've seen a few Babushkas flip it off and spit on it but mostly no one cares. His hands are painted red last I saw. I don't think anyone is worshipping it.

The person who brought the statue to the US was a member of the armed forces. He recognized its artistic value, as it is one of the only Lenin representations that features him as a revolutionary. The original sculptor meant for the piece to represent Lenin as oppressive.

Fremont is probably my favorite neighborhood in Seattle. There's a record shop there just down the hill from the Fremont troll that was amazing.

"private property" aka a major intersection in the business district.

If it was a statue of any white man from southern USA it would be torn down in a minute.

Also, it gets talked about being torn down every single year, this is not really news.
