The shape of a natural draft cooling tower, like you see in your stereotypical nuclear power plant, is also a hyperboloid shape and has the property that it can be completely built of nothing but straight beams with a light skin attached to them.

The southernmost state capital is Austin, TX, and a Boeing 777 will struggle to maintain altitude when its fuel tanks are empty.

Out of all the hit songs that Barry Manilow had over the years, the only hit song he ever had that he *didnt* write was........... "I WRITE THE SONGS"

This is wrong.

As stated, Mandy, his first hit, was written by others (Scott English and Richard Kerr). It was originally called Brandy when English recorded it. It was changed to Mandy at the suggestion of Clive Davis because of the Looking Glass song Brandy (You're A Fine Girl).

Looks Like We Made it was written by Richard Kerr (again) and Will Jennings (Jennings would later co-write My Heart Will Go On). "Somewhere in the Night" was also written by this duo.

Manilow did not write "Can't Smile Without You"

Weekend in New England was written by Randy Edelman (who is also a film composer having written half the score to Last of The Mohicans, as well as Gettysburg, Ghostbusters II and The Mask among others. His wife is Jackie DeShannon who had a hit with "What The World Needs Now" and co-wrote "Bette Davis Eyes". She was also Jimmy Page's girlfriend at one point and likely the inspiration for the song Tangerine on LZ III.- How's that for some facts..)

BTW, "I Write The Songs" was written by Bruce Johnston of The Beach Boys.

When you are in utero, and getting oxygenated blood from your Mother, your heart has holes in between the chambers that allows the blood to flow backwards...when you take your first breath on your own the holes begin to close and blood flow reverses.

Gonna need a link for this one, cuz I'm pretty sure this is bullshite.

The 1st breath thing makes its sound a bit dramatic, but the idea is true.
I believe that poster is referring to the reversal of a fetal blood shunt related to the ductus arteriosus and foramen ovale, look em up.

You take air out of the brakeline to apply the brakes on a train.

And no, they don't use springs like brakes on trucks.
