A group of Stanford researchers published a study that says masks are ineffective and could have long-term health consequences.

“Although, scientific evidence supporting facemasks’ efficacy is lacking, adverse physiological, psychological and health effects are established,” the article states.

In January, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention performed a study and concluded that universal masking is recommended to slow the spread of COVID-19.

But Stanford researchers disagree and say not only are masks ineffective, but could also be causing long-term health problems.

“Both medical and non-medical facemasks are ineffective to reduce human-to-human transmission and infectivity of SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19,” the article details. “Wearing facemasks has adverse physiological and psychological effects … [and] long-term consequences of wearing facemasks on health are detrimental.”

The group’s research suggests that the long-term practice of wearing facemasks has the “strong potential for devastating health consequences,” and states that masks should be “avoided from use.”

The Stanford group also cites the possible impact COVID-19 has on mental health.

“With respect to mental health, global estimates showing that COVID- 19 will cause a catastrophe due to collateral psychological damage such as quarantine, lockdowns, unemployment, economic collapse, social isolation, violence and suicides,” the article reads. “Chronic stress along with hypoxic and hypercapnic conditions knocks the body out of balance … This state suppressing the immune system to protect the body from viruses and bacteria, decreasing cognitive function, promoting the developing and exacerbating the major health issues …”

The study concludes that existing scientific evidence challenges the safety and efficacy of wearing facemask as preventive intervention for COVID-19.

All of the most mainstream anti-lockdown and anti- masks studies have come out of Stanford. You know there’s some people there who are pissed over that.

Surprised Stanford is allowed to release the results of such a study.

Masks are not natural and are screwing with little kids’ heads by not seeing smiles and other facial expressions. This has gotten so out of control that it’s insanity. Masking should be a personal choice if it makes someone feel better but not mandatory.

I’ve seen some used masks on the ground and they’re disgusting. We exhale to get rid of toxins and other wastes we don’t need and all that shite does is keep it trapped in. Also where’s the left-wing trash control people worrying about masks in the oceans? There’s tons of them in there now.

I feel light headed whenever I wear one and I’ve seen others get horrible acne. It’s not a coincidence.

Science is an ever evolving process. Anyone saying otherwise is simply pushing an agenda. Let’s let the science play out and make decisions off of that as opposed to relying on opinions and feelings

Do you wonder why those "Stanford researchers" are unnamed? Why no real Stanford University links or documents are referenced? It's either because your tin foil hat isn't on correctly or that this is total bullshite. You choose.

Honest question:

Are the health consequences the same for health care workers who have always had to wear them for work? If not, why?

Should we wear a mask during the 10 years of waiting for the science to tell us if they're good or bad, or should we not wear one?

Or maybe they are worried about being cancelled.

For the past year I’ve gotten a little sore throat every Tuesday or Wednesday after my longer two days. Always feel great on weekend. This goes for most of the department. Almost entire department only wears them in patients rooms or in areas where we may see an administrator now. Take them off in department, while documenting, lunch, etc. Feel a lot better.

Before the pandemic, can you recall a time your doctor wore a mask in your presence when he/she wasn't on their way to surgery?
