Why did he have to die, Chris? Why did Denny have to die? Why?

Awesome movie.
Sad thing is they had Chris die, too, breaking up a fight. I know it is just a story, but I don't think it was good to have Chris die. Should have had him go on to be some big time success story.
But I am not sure how Stephen King wrote it in his novel that this movie was based on.

I have the book somewhere. I want to say it's a collection of short stories called Night Shift. I think the story is The Body. It's been 20 or 25 years since I read it though.

Movieboard
IMO, this is one movie that transcends just being on a movie board. Stand By Me is an iconic movie that I recommend anyone of any age to watch, even today. It is fairly timeless, even though the date setting was 1959 or so.
I wouldn't say the movie was loaded in historic and quotable one liners, it does has it's share, but it is just the overall progression of the whole movie is set up so well by Rob Reiner and the cast.
