That is one scary looking runway. Still, it has to be better than that freaking ferry ride. None of my party got sick but it seemed like everyone around us did.

We will be on the French side the majority of the time...splitting it up with 3 nights on grand case and 2 on orient beach.

Wife and I went last year. Grand Case is nice and has some top quality restaurants. Orient Beach has some "clothing optional" areas - which isn't as exciting as it sounds unless you are 65+.

St. Maarten is nice but there are areas on the French side that look like third world country - like the north and northeast coast. Dutch side is pretty typical cruise ship port fare.

Going next month and staying right on Dutch/French border on east coast of island.

Only thing planned so far is Catamaran trip to Anguilla for the day.

Any other must does besides beach hopping?

If you are scuba certified go diving off Saba.
Go spend atleast 1 day at St. Barth's
Watch KLM arrive at sunset beach bar Yes, I know it is touristy as hell, but it is cool as shite.
ETA: The Starz City (former Atlantis World) Casino just opened a badass new sports gambling area and the whole casino has been renovated in the last 6 months.

We went on a snorkeling day trip. Swam with sea turtles and large tropical fish around a reef. It was cool. Drove all the way around the island another day just for kicks. Hit a casino one night. Ate fresh seafood the entire time. Spent a lot of time on the resort beach.

Oyster Pond?

The drive up that side of the coast is pretty. Every beach seems to have 1 or 2 restaurants so you don't have many choices but the food was consistently good. We ate far more often on the French side.

The Oyster Pond area has plenty of choices for restaurants. Don't eat at Captain Oliver's at the Oyster Pond Marina. Average at best.

Lee's Roadside Grill and Mary's Boon were disappointing. I'd skip them.

And Anguilla.

Yep, flying into St. Thomas, it looks like you're about to land in the water.
