I go to a salon that my wife goes to. Love going there. Mainly bc the girl that cuts my hair is stupid hot and she's usually wearing some tight tank top that accentuates her assets nicely. The head a neck massage when she washes my hair is pretty sweet. I used to go to a place similar to sport clips or whatever when I lived in BR and it was terrible. They always jacked up my hair and they seemed annoyed that I was there.

I walked into Sports Clips one day and asked for a haircut.
The stylist cut my hair after a wash and I went about my business.
Not very exciting, but I would guess my story is more typical.

Never been to a "chain" barbershop in my life.
Get a local barber who is good, and stay loyal.
If you have trouble finding one, ask one of your buddies who you think has a decent haircut and they'll let you know who they frequent. Then drop their name to the barber when you go.
