Ummm, I would like to think both are gaining in value (especially the baby, he maybe has a chance to be worth something ).
Let's say Bisou is a car and hopefully the yearling is a house.
My husband would say they are both cars. Cars with no value at all.

Kind of going in the opposite direction. Own current house mortgage-free but a we are building a new, significant upgrade while we are entering "semi-retirement." Will put about 75% down and and will keep payments under $1800. I must say that I sure like not having a monthly mortgage, but my wife has waited a long time for her "dream house." We are down to our last kid in college (4 down one to go) so instead of sending our money to LSU we will spend it on ourselves.

1250. 1300 sf with a basement. Two kids. House was built in the 60s, so I am having to do some work on it. I like older homes in the city with big lots. New homes seem to have no soul.

Total truth, and I did sink 200 or so into it ....which looking back, wish I wouldn't have put so much into it and instead bought more stocks in 2009 :

$1,850 but that's not bad for this neck of the woods. Selling the house , staying in a condo right now while some renovations are being done. Rent is $1,450 for 800 sq. ft, but it's on a bay with killer views.

I feel your pain. If I never see another farrier bill, it will be too soon. I'm thinking about abandoning law in favor of showing horses.

Hope springs eternal, doesn't it?
Yesterday my friend and I were talking about a third guy we know came into a very large sum of money through an inheritance and a legal settlement all in the same year.
The guy lost nearly all of it literally through a series of fast women and slow race horses.........which is why your post caught my attention initially.

I feel you there. This weekend mine ripped off 2 shoes and got kicked in the head.
They are a money pit.

No way to make money in racing, for the most part, but you never know!
Yeah, he's probably a car too. Oh well.
