No one has ever done that without saying "Mr." first.

It's a hell of a lot better than someone shortening your first name without you introducing yourself that way.

OP - Being called by my last name doesn't bother me at all.

In high school it's pretty common for people to call you by your last name, especially if you play sports. Now if you get into college and people still do it I would get pissed unless it's someone you played ball with and all.

My family nickname is a derivative of another name which is not actually anywhere in my full name. So, if I introduce myself with the nickname, chucklefricks think they're being cute by using the long form of the name. Bastards.

This.
And my first name is far more common than my last, so it just made sense for people to call me by last name in school and work.

Practically all of my friends call me by my last name. Doesn't bother me at all.

My last name is awesome so a lot of my close friends call me by my last name. Doesn't bother me

Depends on who it is there are times when I prefer to be called by my last name

I get both of those, and I don't mind either.
I usually go by the shortened version name, unless I'm dealing with someone I don't know in a professional manner. Even then, I wouldn't notice if they shortened my name, because I'm so used to going by the shortened version.

I have a unique last name so I think it's fine.

The only person that really does it is a kid I went to HS with and then college. He never played sports with me.
I only see him every so often and he'll say "what's goin on Smith". I'll immediately say "Not much how you doing (insert his last name) you big chief. (Dude is probably 5'8 max). I can tell it irks him

There are two of us at work with the same name and another with on pronounced almost the same so the white guys use our last names and the Mexicans use whatever nickname they have given us

You would let this "piss" you off? Some uptight motherfrickers in here.

my last name is unusual, and kind of interesting, so, most of my family gets called by our last name often. i'm 62, and when i'm back in west monroe, my friends' mom (about 90 years old) still calls me mooneyes like her kids did in 1968.
i call my daughter-in-law by her maiden last name, because 3 of the four girls have the same first name. blended families and inlaws.

Is it just me or does that piss you off?
Nah. For 10 years in the army my last name was pretty much my first name. I had to remind myself to introduce myself by my first name for several years after I got out.

Nope, it's just you. Pro ably 80% of my friends call my by mine. My wife does about half the time.
My best friend growing up had the same name, he was older, so they called me by my last name to make it easy.
But my name in the porn industry is just Rocco
