It's subjective, if there is/are kid(s) involved, obviously the threshold is different than singles shacking up.
Fortunately I've never had to make this call, so I have no first-hand experience.

This may have been a joke but I was engaged to a girl and she eventually quit swallowing. Only a couple months later she ended it.

My ex wife was crazy and severely depressed. It wasn't her fault that she was either, but she refused to get help and that was her fault. She would yell at me for no reason at all. Tried to hit me on numerous occasions and I would just grab her and hold her till she settled down. The day she picked up the knife in the kitchen with that certain look in her eyes I was done.

Just keep this in mind: unless she has had some serious run-ins with the law or documented drug/alcohol problems, you will have a hell of a time getting your kids away from her. Do you really want to leave them alone in her care and in the company of whatever random men she takes up with?
